NEA Task 6 : Understanding Audience (Mass Market)

 

1.       What is a mass market audience?

A mass market audience is a group of like-minded customers who share similar needs and interests about the same thing.

2.       What is an independent cinema?

Independent cinemas are a small section of the film industry who go against the usual films that cinemas that are part of a big chain show and instead they usually show movie productions made by smaller companies that are more innovative, daring and experimental.

3.       What is OnScreen magazine?

OnScreen magazine is ‘The magazine for independent cinemas’ as they send out their newly published copies to independent cinemas across the UK free of charge for them to hand out at the cinemas as it is also completely free for customers both physically and digitally.

4.       What different sections are there on the OnScreen website and how do these sections appeal to a mass market audience?

The different sections of the website allow OnScreen magazine to apply to a mass market audience because by having lots of different trailers and news this allows them to cover a wide range of movies and genres which would allow the magazine to apply to a larger audience each with their own taste of movies.

5.       How does the latest edition of OnScreen magazine (May/June 2023) appeal to a mass market audience?

The latest edition of the OnScreen magazine would appeal to a mass market audience as throughout the magazine there is lots of information each about different movies with pages about the little mermaid, cartoons and superhero action movies.

6.       What is meant by the term cross-media convergence?

Cross-media convergence is where multiple products come together to form one product providing advantages to each of the individual products.

7.       Is there any cross-media convergence* between the magazine and its website? 

There is cross media convergence between the OnScreen magazine and website as on the website there is digital copies and information about their magazines and in the magazines, there are pages with text on linking the magazine to the website with a given link on a page to direct the audience.
